It is in the perfect location so that one can enjoy the city life of San Diego when wanted, but live and enjoy the outdoors that San Diego has to offer.  Rancho Bernardo has a number of public schools for families with children.As one of San Diegos largest communities, Rancho Bernardo has much to offer to anyone. Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School are also a part of PUSD. However, although Rancho Bernado can give off this impression, it is actually only a 20 30 minute drive away from Downtown San Diego. These festivities are just a small example of how active the Rancho Bernardo residents are in making the community a stronger place. With so many types of clubs, any member of the community can easily fit in based on their interests. Like the rest of San Diego, Rancho Bernardo is sprawling with rolling hills, canyons, lots of neighborhood parks, and golf courses. Within the gates features a dozen village shops, a restaurant and caf, as well as a weekly farmers market. The RB! Alive Expo is highly anticipated each year, and features over 300 vendors and booths. Neighboring areas such as Rancho Penasquitos, 4S Ranch, Carmel Mountain, and Bernardo Heights add more energy to the overall community, helping to make it grow into an even bigger neighborhood. Rancho Bernardo is an upcoming community that is thriving with people and businesses. This winery is known for its locally grown wine, and is open to visitors who would like to try a taste, walk around or even purchase a bottle.
There are over a dozen different clubs, such as the Mens/Womens Golf Club, Garden Club, Social Club, among many other s. The natural geography of this area is perfect for those who love the natural outdoors, and want to feel as if they are away from the city. Rancho Bernardo is one of the few areas of San Diego that continue to do so, and maintains a beautiful neighborhood that is safe and pleasant for families.
Rancho Bernardo is also known for one of its most popular local attractions, the Bernardo Winery. Founded in 1889, Bernardo Winery draws a lot of visitors from all over San Diego. Although a large community and split by the I 15 freeway, Rancho Bernardo continues to take the extra step to make the neighborhood nicer for the community. Some community events include an annual carnival and street fair that occurs every summer. Westwood, Stone Ranch, and Creekside Elementary School are all part of the renowned Poway Unified School District (PUSD).
